Marion Ryan Geary, passed away on February 5, 2010, at Baylake Retirement & Assisted Living Community. Marion was a proud native of Manhattan, New York. She is predeceased by her parents, Clara and John Ryan of New York City, and her husband, Robert A. Geary, President of Ocean Electric Corporation and GAVCO Corporation, based in Norfolk, VA.

Marion was an avid golfer and member of Bide-A-Wee Ladies Group and Stumpy Lake Golf Club. In earlier years, she volunteered at Maryview Hospital, as well as countless hours at Holy Angels Catholic School and Portsmouth Catholic High School. She also enjoyed her relationship with the I.B.E.W., Local Union #80.

She is survived by her brother, John T. Ryan; two sons, Robert Geary and Brian and wife Mary Geary; and a daughter, Barbara Carr; seven grandchildren, Carole and husband Charles Purser, Christopher and wife Erin Geary, Sean Geary, Ryan Geary, Bryna Geary, Courtney Carr Powell and Brandon Carr; and eight great grand children, Brent Utterback, Chad Purser, Kelly Purser, Kylee Geary, Kelsey Geary, Michael Geary, Ian Geary, and CJ Powell.

The family will be receiving visitors on Tuesday, February 9th, 2010, between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Snellings Funeral Home, 5815 W. High Street, Portsmouth, VA. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 10th, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese's Catholic Church, 4137 Portsmouth Blvd, Chesapeake, VA. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3920 Airline Blvd, Chesapeake, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 5349 E. Princess Anne Rd., Norfolk, VA 23502. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.
