Aubrey Woodrow Dean, 91, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 6, 2010. Born in Ozart, AL, on Sept. 30, 1918, he was the son of the late Walter and Ludie Dean.
Aubrey is survived by his wife of 46 years, Edith; his son, Paul A. Dean and his wife Tanya of China; a step-daughter, Mavis Poole and husband Martin of Virginia Beach, VA; a step-son, Thurman Alexander and his wife Pat of Chesapeake, VA; four grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Mr. Dean was in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in World War II retiring as a Gunnery Sergeant after 20 years. Following retirement, he worked for Gordon Foods for 20 years. He was a member of Hyde Park Free Will Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Trustee.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at Hyde Park Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Terry Beck. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hyde Park Free Will Baptist Church for missions, 8501 Chesapeake Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23503.
