Joseph Roland Gerrey, 55, of the Cradock section, passed away January 31, 2010, in Maryview Hospital.
A native of Norfolk, VA, he was the son of the late Robert and Mabel Gerrey, and the widower of Patricia Gerrey. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a Physical Science Technician after 22 years of service. He volunteered in many social ministry activities.
He is survived by his daughter, Heather G. Jones and husband Jon of Eustis, FL; and a son, Bill Burton Sawyer of Portsmouth, VA.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel with Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood officiating. The burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to CHKD. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
